Goodwill Good Samaritan of the Week

The Goodwill Good Samaritans of the week are all the organizations that made Saturday’s grand opening of the Greater Prospect Store a success, including Stevens Memorial Holy Church, Bethel A.M.E., Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, plus many volunteers.

The Greater Prospect Store, also known as GPS, grew out of an effort that began in 2010 to identify and act on the needs of the Prospect neighborhood. The store provides a safe place to shop for convenience items, locally grown produce and freshly prepared food. It also has an energy-efficient laundromat on-site. Future plans include a neighborhood post office; community garden; and classes on gardening, canning and cooking. This co-op is the first of its kind in this area, and hopefully will serve as a catalyst for future neighborhood revitalization projects.

The Good Samaritan of the Week is made possible through the support from Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley. If you would like to recognize a Good Samaritan you know, you can do that online below as well or by calling 255-4186.
