SFU began organizing the Autism Task Force in summer 2012, and the momentum of the Autism Task Force translated to quick action in the form of a “Sensitive Santa” event, also featured in this newsletter. Amy Hudkins, an Instructor of Occupational Therapy and one of the planners for the event, explained the role of the task force in this regard, “We have an opportunity to really ‘tune in’ to the needs of our community,” she says. “Based on the success of Sensitive Santa, I think you’ll see more events geared toward children with Autism coming out of our group!

Drop 10 in 10: This innovative 10-week weight management program shows you how to add a healthy balance to your life with the combination of nutritional information and an exercise session each week. 

Dates: Tuesdays, January 22-March 26
Time: 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Daily Steps to Less Stress: This is wellness and lifestyle improvement program designed to help you identfy and better manage your personal stress through relaxation techniques and innovative stress management strategies. This 6 week program offers real life solutions to your everyday wellness challenges. 

Dates: Thursdays, January 24-February 28
Time: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Personal Nutrition Coaching: This one-on-one counseling service with a registered dietitian helps you to make healthy lifestyle and nutrition choices to address weight management, heart health, or diabetes. Call our office for a personalized appointment at 814-472-2783.

All classes are held in the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness and are open to the general public. There is no charge for SFU students and Highmark members (Non-Highmark SFU students will be charged a nominal fee for personalized nutrition coaching).
