THE SOMERSET COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE MADE SEVERAL ARRESTS IN MEYERSDALE LAST NIGHT … FOLLOWING A YEAR LONG INVESTIGATION INTO THE SALE OF DRUGS … MOSTLY HEROIN. ERIC NOLTE IS CHARGED WITH POSSESSION AND INTENT TO DELIVER … MICHAEL MYERS IS ACCUSED OF DISTRIBUTING HEROIN.  WILLIAM HAER FACES MORE THAN A DOZEN YEARS IN PRISON FOR INTENT TO DELIVER COCAINE.  DANIEL HORNING IS ALREADY IN JAIL AND ANOTHER SUSPECT – MICHAEL PHILLIPS, JR., IS EXPECTED TO TURN HIM IN TODAY.   POLICE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR JOSHUA HAY OR TRAVIS NIGHTINGALE.  IF YOU KNOW OF THERE WHEREABOUTS, YOU’RE ASKED TO CONTACT POLICE.

THE SEARCH IS CONTINUING FOR THE MAN WHO ROBBED THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK BRANCH IN EBENSBURG ON MONDAY.  THEY BELIEVE THEY HAVE VIDEO OF THE TRUCK USED IN THE GETAWAY. THEY ALSO HAVE SURVEILLANCE OF THE BANK ROBBER IN THE BANK.  THE ROBBER WALKED INTO THE BANK WITH A GUN AND A KNIFE AND FLED WITH AN UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT OF MONEY.

SOMERSET AREA SCHOOLS MAY SOON HAVE POLICE PATROLS.  THE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS AGREED TO PAY 32 DOLLARS AN HOUR TO PAY FOR A POLICE OFFICER TO PATROL THE HALLS FOR ALL 176 OF THE SCHOOL DAYS.  IT’S HOPED THAT FEDERAL GRANT MONEY WILL HELP PAY FOR THE NEW SCHOOL SECURITY.

IN CAMBRIA COUNTY, EBENSBURG BOROUGH POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE TRUCK USED BY THE MAN WHO ROBBED FIRST NATIONAL BANK MONDAY AFTERNOON.  AUTHORITIES SAY THEY HAVE VIDEO OF THE DRIVER TAKING OFF IN A DARKER COLORED CHEVY PICKUP WITH A TIRE IN THE TRUCK BED.   THE SUSPECT WAS ARMED WITH A KNIFE DURING THE HOLD-UP, BUT NO ONE WAS INJURED.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CALL 1-800-281-1680.

IN BEDFORD COUNTY COURT TODAY, 40 YEAR OLD TRAVIS CHEW OF NEW PARIS IS SCHEDULED TO ANSWER TO KIDNAPPING AND OTHER CHARGES AT A PRELIMINARY HEARING.   POLICE SAY CHEW BEGAN AN ON-LINE FRIENDSHIP WITH A VIRGINIA WOMAN AND THEY MET IN PERSON IN FEBRUARY.  THEY ARGUED A FEW DAYS LATER AND THE WOMAN TRIED TO LEAVE CHEW’S HOUSE, BUT HE HOG-TIED HER HANDS AND FEET WITH DUCT TAPE.  A NEIGHBOR CALLED POLICE WHO FOUND THE WOMAN TIED UP IN CHEW’S BEDROOM.  HE’S JAILED ON 125-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND.

IT LOOKS LIKE MORE THAN 260 LOCAL JOBS ARE IN JEOPARDY AS EMPLOYEES WERE INFORMED OF THE POTENTIAL CLOSURE OF THE WARNACO DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN DUNCANSVILLE, BLAIR COUNTY AND THE WARNACO PLANT IN HUNTINGDON COUNTY.   THE COMPANY PLANS TO PHASE OUT OPERATIONS WITH THE FIRST WAVE OF STAFF REDUCTIONS IN SEPTEMBER FOLLOWED BY 2 MORE IN JANUARY AND MARCH OF NEXT YEAR.
