POLICE IN JOHNSTOWN DEALT WITH AN 18-HOUR STANDOFF OVER THE WEEKEND.  IT STARTED AT ABOUT 2 PM ON SATURDAY WHEN A MAN WITH A GUN WAS HOLED UP IN HIS FOREST AVENUE HOME.  JOHNSTOWN AND STATE POLICE AND EMS CREWS TRIED TO TALK THE MAN INTO COMING OUT PEACEFULLY.  THE MAN SHOT HIMSELF, BUT IS EXPECTED TO RECOVER.

IN JEFFERSON COUNTY … A MOBILE HOME ON MILLIRON ROAD IN WARSAW TOWNSHIP WENT UP IN FLAMES EARLY YESTERDAY CAUSING ABOUT 60-THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE.  THE HOMEOWNER WAS OUT OF TOWN AT THE TIME.  THERE WERE NO INJURIES.  NO WORD YET ON WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE.

CRESSON TOWNSHIP POLICE SAY THEY HAVE ARRESTED 3 PEOPLE --- TWO MEN AND ONE WOMAN.  THEY’VE BEEN CHARGED WITH STEALING ABOUT 18-THOUSAND DOLLARS BACK IN MAY.  NO FURTHER DETAILS ARE YET AVAILABLE.

AUTHORITIES IN GALLITZIN SAY THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A MISSING 14 YEAR OLD BOY IDENTIFIED AS SHANE WATCHY.  HE WAS LAST SEEN IN ALTOONA ON JULY 16TH WHEN HIS FATHER DROPPED HIM OFF WITH SOME UNKNOWN FRIENDS AT A PARTY.  ANYONE WHO HAS ANY INFORMATION IS URGED TO CALL POLICE.

AN ESCAPEE FROM JEFFERSON COUNTY JAIL IS BACK IN PRISON.   BENJAMIN DELGUZZI ESCAPED WHILE ON WORK DETAIL LAST WEEK, BUT HE WAS CAPTURED YESTERDAY AND NOW FACES ESCAPE CHARGES.   HE HAD BEEN IMPRISONED FOR ASSAULTING AN OFFICER AND WAS DUE TO BE RELEASED THIS FALL.  NOW, HIS RELEASE IS UNLIKELY.
