THE SEARCH IS CONTINUING TODAY FOR SHANE JOHNSON … A MAN THAT JOHNSTOWN POLICE SAY ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO KIDNAP A WOMAN FROM THE OAKHURST HOMES IN THE CITY EARLY SATURDAY  MORNING.  THE WOMAN SAYS HE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR, PULLED OUT A GUN AND DEMANDED DRUGS AND MONEY.  SHE TOLD HIM TO DRIVE HER TO A RELATIVE’S HOME TO GET MORE CASH AND WHEN HE DID SHE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND RAN FOR HELP.

ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT HIS WHEREABOUTS SHOULD CALL POLICE.

THE INVESTIGATION INTO WHAT CAUSED A FIRE THAT KILLED TWO PEOPLE IN INDIANA COUNTY WILL CONTINUE TODAY. IT BROKE OUT AT A TRAILER HOME ABOUT MIDNIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT IN YOUNG TOWNSHIP.  9 YEAR OLD MICHAEL COLLIER AND 50 YEAR OLD VICKIE MILLIRON DIED.  IT’S BELIEVED THAT HE LIVED IN THE HOME AND SHE WAS VISITING HIM.  TWO OTHERS WERE ALSO INJURED AND FLOWN TO A PITTSBURGH BURN CENTER.

STATE POLICE IN CAMBRIA COUNTY ARE INVESTIGATING A BRAWL EARLY SUNDAY MORNING INVOLVING ABOUT A HUNDRED PEOPLE.  IT HAPPENED AT SET OF APARTMENT BUILDINGS OWNED BY SAINT FRANCIS UNIVERSITY IN LORETTO.  POLICE SAY MEMBERS OF THE FOOTBALL AND SOCCER TEAM TOOK PART.  2 STUDENTS WERE TREATED AT ALTOONA REGIONAL HEALTH SYSTEM. THE OTHERS WERE SENT HOME PENDING AN INVESTIGATION.

BLAIR COUNTY STATE POLICE SAY AN ALTOONA MAN … JOSHUA GUIDO … IS ACCUSED OF WALKING INTO LARINKO’S MARKET ON MAPLE AVENUE AND DEMANDING MONEY.  HE HIT THE CASH REGISTER TO OPEN IT AND GRABBED MONEY FROM INSIDE. BUT THE STORE OWNER AND A CUSTOMER HELD HIM TO THE GROUND UNTIL POLICE GOT THERE. HE’S NOW IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON.

BEGINNING TODAY …A PENNDOT CONTRACTOR WILL BEGIN BUILDING DEMOLITION AND TREE TRIMMING WORK FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ROUTE 40-21 -- CHARLES STREET -- BRIDGE OVER THE STONYCREEK RIVER IN HOOVERSVILLE.   THE WORK WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS.  A NEW THREE-SPAN BRIDGE WILL BE CONSTRUCTED SLIGHTLY UPSTREAM FROM THE CURRENT TWO-SPAN BRIDGE.  THE 2 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT WILL BE COMPLETED IN MAY OF 2014.
