KENNETH LEIGHTY OF ALTOONA HAS ASKED A JUDGE TO LOWER HIS 250-THOUSAND DOLLAR CASH BOND.  HE’S CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING THE POLICE OFFICERS WHO WANTED TO QUESTION HIM ABOUT THE 1999 DISAPPEARANCE OF HIS DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, SHERRY.  THIS WEEK, INVESTIGATORS FOUND BONES AND CLOTHING ON LEIGHTY’S CAMP NEAR WARRIORS MARK, HUNTINGDON COUNTY.  HE REPORTEDLY CONFESSED TO HIS SON THAT HE ACCIDENTALLY KILLED SHERRY AND BURIED HER BODY.  THE JUDGE WILL HOLD A BAIL TO CONSIDER THE LOWER BAIL ON MAY 17TH.

KAYAKERS ALONG THE LITTLE JUNIATA RIVER HAVE DISCOVERED A DEAD BODY IN THE RIVER. IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY NEAR TYRONE. THE BODY IS THAT OF A 28 YEAR OLD MALE AND AUTHORITIES HAVE AN ID, BUT THEY HAVE NOT YET RELEASED THAT NAME.  AN AUTOPSY IS SCHEDULED FOR LATER TODAY.

A WRITTEN THREAT AT CENTRAL CAMBIA HIGH SCHOOL WAS FOUND IN A BOY’S BATHROOM LAST WEEK … AND IT TALKED ABOUT A SHOOTING THAT WAS TO HAPPEN TODAY …. THE DAY BEFORE THE HIGH SCHOOL PROM.  SOME PARENTS DECIDED NOT TO SEND THEIR STUDENTS TO SCHOOL THIS MORNING, BUT SCHOOL OFFICIALS SAID CLASSES WOULD BE HELD AS USUAL.  HOWEVER,   THERE HAS BEEN A HEAVY LOCAL AND STATE POLICE PRESENCE IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT … AND A CANINE UNIT WAS BROUGHT IN AS WELL.   STUDENTS WERE ALSO NOT PERMITTED TO BRING SCHOOL BAGS OR GYM BAGS TO THE SCHOOL.

SOME PARENTS KEPT THEIR KIDS HOME FROM CENTRAL CAMBRIA HIGH SCHOOL TODAY. RECENTLY, A MESSAGE WAS FOUND ON A BOYS BATHROOM WALL THAT SAID SCHOOL SHOOTING 5-3-13. THAT’S TODAY AND IT’S THE DAY BEFORE THE PROM.

THE PROM IS TOMORROW NIGHT FOR JOHNSTOWN’S BISHOP MCCORT HIGH SCHOOL AND POLICE ARE TAKING EXTRA PRECAUTIONS AFTER A STUDENT USED SOCIAL MEDIA TO THREATEN HE WOULD CRASH THE EVENT WITH A BANG.  SOURCES TELL WTAJ THE STUDENT WHO POSTED THE THREAT IS NOT A STUDENT AT BISHOP MCCORT.

HASTINGS BORO POLICE HAVE CHARGED 24 YEAR OLD KEVIN CHRISTOPHER OF NORTHERN CAMBRIA WITH ROBBING THE P&P PIT STOP IN FEBRUARY.  CHRISTOPHER HAD ALLEGEDLY BRAGGED TO A FRIEND THAT HE WAS THE ONE WHO HELD UP THE STORE.  THAT FRIEND WAS ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES THIS MONTH AND TOLD THE COPS.   CHRISTOPHER IS IN THE CAMBRIA COUNTY JAIL ON 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS BAIL.
