It looks as if Barbara Walters is finally ready to call it a career. "The New York Times" says the veteran broadcast journalist will put all speculation to rest with an official retirement announcement on Monday's edition of "The View." Walters previewed the announcement in a statement Sunday, saying, "It's time." Now 83-years-old, Walters' groundbreaking career has spanned more than 50 years and will come to an end in 2014, one year after Monday's announcement.
Walters, the nation's first female anchorwoman, has suffered a number of health setbacks in recent years including heart surgery in 2011. She also suffered a concussion and a bout with chickenpox earlier this year. Reports about her plans to retire first surfaced in March but Walters refused to confirm anything then.
