Academy Award Nominations Announced Today!!

Steven Spielberg's historical drama "Lincoln" tops the nominees heading into this year's Academy Awards with 12 nominations.  "Lincoln" is among nine films vying for Best Picture.  The category also includes Kathryn Bigelow's Osama bin Laden search drama "Zero Dark Thirty"; the movie musical "Les Miserables"; and Quentin Tarantino's slave revenge adventure "Django Unchained."  "Lincoln" also picked up nominations for Best Actor for Daniel Day Lewis and Spielberg for Best Director.  At nine years old, Quevenzhané Wallis is the youngest Best Actress nominee ever.  She received the nod for her role in the movie "Beasts of the Southern Wild," which is also nominated for Best Picture.  Wallis is up against the oldest Best Actress Oscar nominee in history, 85-year-old Emanuelle Riva, who is nominated for her role in "Amour," another nominee for Best Picture.   

"Silver Linings Playbook," "Argo" and "Life Of Pi" are also nominated for Best Picture.  Other nominees for Best Actress include: Naomi Watts for "The Impossible"; Jessica Chastain for "Zero Dark Thirty"; and Jennifer Lawrence for "Silver Linings Playbook."  Along with Daniel Day Lewis for "Lincoln," the Best Actor category includes Denzel Washington for "Flight"; Hugh Jackman for "Les Miserables"; Bradley Cooper for "Silver Linings Playbook" and Joaquin Phoenix for "The Master."

Seth MacFarlane will host this year's Oscars.  MacFarlane, who helped announce this year's nominees along with Emma Stone, also finds himself in Oscar contention in the Original Song category.  The song "Everybody Needs A Best Friend" from MacFarlane's comedy "Ted" is nominated.  The category also includes the Adele song "Skyfall" from the James Bond movie of the same name;  "Before My Time" from "Chasing Ice"; and "Pi's Lullaby" from "Life of Pi." 

The 85th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 24th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.  ABC will televise the star-studded ceremony live.
