IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY, POLICE SAY AN ARGUMENT LEAD TO A STABBING. IT HAPPENED MONDAY IN LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP WHEN A 22 YEAR OLD MAN TOOK A KNIFE AND STABBED HIS 18 YEAR OLD BROTHER TWO TIMES.  THE WOUNDS WERE NOT LIFE THREATENING.  CHARGES ARE PENDING AGAINST THE 22 YEAR OLD MAN.

A MAN IN SOMERSET COUNTY THAT IS FACING HOMICIDE CHARGES MUST RECEIVE A MENTAL EVALUATION.  LESTER GINDLESPERGER OF CLEARVIEW HEIGHTS WAIVED HIS HEARING ON MONDAY.  HIS BAIL REMAINS AT HALF A MILLION DOLLARS.  GINDLESPERGER WAS CHARGED IN OCTOBER AFTER HE PUT A GUN TO HIS GIRLFRIEND’S HEAD …FIRED AND MISSED.

A BABY WAS BORN AT THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON.  OFFICIALS SAY THERE WAS NO TIME TO GET THE INMATE TO THE HOSPITAL AND THE BIRTH OF THE BABY GIRL WENT WELL AT THE PRISON. IT HAPPENED EARLY ON NOVEMBER 24TH.  THE MOTHER AND BABY WERE TRANSPORTED TO ALTOONA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AFTER THE BIRTH AND BOTH WERE IN GOOD CONDITION.  PRISON OFFICIALS SAY A BIRTH BEHIND BARS IS UNUSUAL, BUT IT DOES HAPPEN SOMETIMES.

FIRE DESTROYED AN OFFICE BUILDING AT POE VALLEY STATE PARK IN CENTRE COUNTY MONDAY.   OFFICIALS SAY THE 3 ROOM BUILDING WAS CLOSED AND UN-OCCUPIED AT THIS TIME OF YEAR.  IT WAS USED FOR STORAGE AND CAMP SITE RENTAL INFORMATION.  BY THE TIME FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED, THE STRUCTURE WAS A TOTAL LOSS.    A STATE FIRE MARSHAL IS INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE.

IN BEDFORD COUNTY COURT, 51 YEAR OLD RANDY FOOR OF BEDFORD HAS PLEAD GUILTY TO INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER IN THE DEATH OF HIS FRIEND.  POLICE SAY HE 49 YEAR OLD DENNIS SPRIGG OF MANNS CHOICE HAD BEEN DRINKING AT A PARTY ON AUGUST 11TH WHEN AN ARGUMENT BEGAN. IT TURNED PHYSICAL, AND FOOR PUSHED SPRIGG WHO FELL AND HIT HIS HEAD ON THE BLACKTOP. HE DIED MORE THAN A MONTH LATER.   FOOR COULD GET A FEW MONTHS IN JAIL TO UP TO 5 YEARS. A SENTENCING DATE HAS NOT YET BEEN SET.

JOYCE MURTHA WAS ON HAND YESTERDAY AS WALTER REED NATIONAL MILITARY MEDICAL CENTER NAMED ITS CANCER CARE AND RESEARCH CENTER IN HONOR OF HER LATE HUSBAND, FORMER CONGRESSMAN JOHN MURTHA.  THE JOYCE MURTHA BREAST CANCER CENTER AT WINDBER MEDICAL CENTER IS ONE OF THE BETHESDA FACILITY’S PARTNERS AND MRS MURTHA SAYS IT REPRESENTS STATE-OF-THE-ART CARE EQUAL TO ANY MAJOR UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.
