A HIKER SPOTTED THE BODY ALONG THE GREAT ALLEGHENY PASSAGE TRAIL OUTSIDE MEYERSDALE.   A FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST TEAM FROM MERCYHURST COLLEGE IN ERIE HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN TO ASSIST IN THE INVESTIGATION.  THERE IS SPECULATION THAT THE BODY MAY BE THAT OF 19 YEAR OLD JUSTINE JACKSON WHO DISAPPEARED 2 MONTHS AGO. SHE WAS LAST SEEN ON A ROAD NEAR THE TRAIL IN LARIMER TOWNSHIP.

25 YEAR OLD MICHAEL ELVEY THE SECOND OF ALTOONA FACES A MAXIMUM OF 20 YEARS IN PRISON WHEN HE’S SENTENCED TODAY IN JOHNSTOWN’S FEDERAL COURT.  ELVEY PLEADED GUILTY TO COUNTERFEITING AND MAKING ABOUT 5-THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF FUNNY MONEY BETWEEN DECEMBER 2010 AND FEBRUARY OF LAST YEAR.

AUTHORITIES HAVE NOW RELEASED THE NAME OF THE MAN WHO DIED SUNDAY EVENING WHEN HIS CAR CRASHED NEAR THE BLAIR/CAMBRIA COUNTY LINE.   POLICE SAY 45 YEAR OLD MARK BUSH OF DYSART HAD A BLOOD ALCOHOL OF POINT-19 PERCENT WHEN HIS CAR SLAMMED INTO SEVERAL TREES ALONG WOPSONONOCK ROAD IN DEAN TOWNSHIP.  BUSH WAS A CORRECTIONS OFFICER AT S-C-I CRESSON.

FUNERAL SERVICES ARE SCHEDULED TODAY FOR NAVY SAILOR SAMUEL STILES OF JOHNSTOWN.   THE 25 YEAR OLD PETTY OFFICER SECOND CLASS DIED 2 WEEKS AGO AT A JAPANESE TRAIN STATION NOT FAR FROM WHERE HE WAS STATIONED IN NAGASAKI.   JAPANESE MEDIA REPORTED STILES WAS BELIEVED TO BE CLIMBING ON TOP OF A TRAIN WHEN HE WAS SHOCKED BY AN OVERHEAD POWER LINE, FELL AND HIT HIS HEAD. SEVERAL ALCOHOLIC-BEVERAGE CONTAINERS WERE REPORTEDLY FOUND NEAR HIS BODY.  TODAY’S SERVICE IS AT EMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH IN RICHLAND TOWNSHIP.
