Less than two-months after announcing his latest bout with cancer, former Senator Arlen Specter losses that battle.  Senator Specter spent five decades in politics, and with 30-years in the U.S. Senate was Pennsylvania's longest-running Senator.  He's best remembered as assistant counsel on the Warren Commission, where he helped devise the single bullet theory.  He died Sunday morning at his home in Philadelphia.  He was 82.

A man is recovering today … after being hit by a train early yesterday in Cresson.  It happened at about 3:30 in the morning, near the tracks on Front Street.  He was flown by helicopter to Altoona Regional.  Norfolk Southern Railway Police are investigating.

A Confluence, Somerset County, teenager is now facing aggravated assault charges after police say he hurt another teenager. Authorities say 19 year old Jason Clevenger and a 15 year old boy chased down Tyler Zelenske with a car.  The incident happened near Sheppard’s Farm on Route 281 in Turkeyfoot Township.  Zelenske was taken to Somerset Hospital and both boys were arrested.

Penn State is starting preliminary settlement talks with 20 men who have accused Jerry Sandusky of sexual abuse.  Only eight of the 20 men were named in the Sandusky sex abuse trial.  The rest have either filed lawsuits or have not yet made their allegations public.  Mediators have not started evaluating any of the cases.

2 PIT BULL PUPPIES HAVE DIED AND 4 OTHERS ARE RECOVERING AFTER SOMEONE APPARENTLY POISONED THEM AT THE CENTRAL P-A PIT-BULL WALK AT LEGION PARK IN HOLLIDAYSBURG ON SATURDAY.   THE PUPPIES WERE ALL IN A CAGE AT THE EVENT. AUTHORITIES THINK SOMEONE PUT SOMETHING INTO THEIR DRINKING WATER

STEELERS ROOKIE ALAMEDA TA'AMU [AL-UH-MEE-DUH TAH-AH-MOO] IS FACING SERIOUS CHARGES FOLLOWING A WILD RIDE THROUGH THE SOUTH SIDE SATURDAY NIGHT.   POLICE SAY HE NEARLY HIT SEVERAL OFFICERS THAT TRIED TO STOP HIM. TA’AMU DID HIT SEVERAL CARS AND ONE WOMAN HAD TO BE HOSPITALIZED.   TA’AMU IS CHARGED WITH DRUNK DRIVING, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, RESISTING ARREST, AND RELATED OFFENSES.
