WINTRY WEATHER

SOME PARTS OF CAMBRIA COUNTY ARE REPORTING IN WITH SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW AND ROADS ARE SLIPPERY. WE’VE HEARD THAT OLD ROUTE 22 FROM DUNCANSVILLE TO CRESSON IS VERY SLICK. ALSO PROBLEMS REPORTED ON ROUTE 422 NEAR EBENSBURG. AND ROUTE 36 BETWEEN PATTON AND CHEST SPRINGS. I-80 NEAR DUBOIS IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY IS A SHEET OF ICE. THE WESTBOUND LANES ARE CLOSED DOWN NEAR THE PENFIELD EXIT. PENNDOT HOPES TO HAVE THAT HIGHWAY REOPENED BY 8:30. DRIVERS SHOULD USE EXTRA CAUTION DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE.

WRONG WAY WRECK

A WOMAN IS DEAD AFTER A CRASH MONDAY EVENING ALONG ROUTE 219 IN CAMBRIA COUNTY. POLICE RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT A WOMAN DRIVING SOUTH IN THE NORTHBOUND LANES AND THEN SHE STRUCK A PICKUP JUST BEFORE THE SOUTH FORK/PORTAGE EXIT. CORONER DENNIS KWIATKOWSKI SAYS THE WOMAN WAS KILLED INSTANTLY. THE WOMAN DRIVING THE TRUCK SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES AND HER 2 YOUNG PASSENGERS HAD MINOR INJURIES. NO NAMES HAVE BEEN RELEASED SO FAR AS THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.

BUSINESS DESTROYED

THE MAIN BUILDING AT SCOTT’S LANDSCAPING IN CENTRE HALL WENT UP IN FLAMES SUNDAY EVENING, BUT THE OWNER, SCOTT BURK, IS HOPING TO BE FULLY BACK IN BUSINESS NEXT WEEK. THE STATE POLICE FIRE MARSHAL WILL BE BACK ON SITE TODAY TRYING TO PINPOINT THE CAUSE. SCOTT’S LANDSCAPING EMPLOYS ABOUT 65 PEOPLE.
