This recipe has been floating around the Midwest for some time - I always knew these as just "almond crackers" but apparently the real name is Nutty Cracker Delights.
The recipe sounds peculiar, but I'd eat these over a candy bar ANY day. They are crispy and just the right amount of sweet and salty. Perfect if you need an unexpected treat for a baby or bridal shower!

Nutty Cracker Delights
42 Club crackers
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1 t. vanilla
1 c. slivered almonds
Place crackers in a single layer in a foil-lined 15 in. X 10 in. x 1 in. baking pan. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add sugar; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat; add vanilla. Pour evenly over crackers; sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 for 10-12 mins. or until lightly browned. Immediately remove from the pan, cutting between crackers if necessary, and cool on wire racks. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 3 & 1/2 dozen
